Engineered and combination strategies for Delta One T cells in colorectal cancer

Biography

Bruno Silva-Santos is Full Professor and Director of Immuno-Oncology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon, and Group Leader at the Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine in Lisbon, Portugal. He is the current President of the Portuguese Society for Immunology. His research has been funded by the European Research Council (2010 and 2015) and the la Caixa Foundation (2020 and 2024), among others, and resulted in over 120 papers in top peer-reviewed journals. His patented immunotherapy technology, “Delta One T (DOT) cells”, has been acquired by Takeda Pharmaceutical (2022) and is currently under clinical testing in leukemia patients the USA (NCT05886491).

Neutrophils in Breast Cancer progression and therapy response: the good, the bad and the villain

Biography

Guadalupe Cabral holds a PhD in Biotechnology from Instituto Superior Técnico and has been based at NOVA Medical School since 2007, where she progressively developed her research career from postdoctoral researcher to Group Leader of the Translational Tumor Immunology Laboratory. She is also an Invited Assistant Professor at the same institution. Her research focuses on breast cancer immunobiology, with particular emphasis on the roles of neutrophils in cancer progression and therapy response, aiming to identify predictive biomarkers and novel therapeutic immune targets to improve breast cancer management and advance precision oncology. She has secured competitive funding to support her research, including grants from the CaixaImpulse, Gilead GÉNESE, and Liga Portuguesa Contra o Cancro programs. She actively collaborates with clinicians and pursues translational and innovation-driven research initiatives to accelerate the clinical impact of her work.
