Raquel Soares is Full Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto, and Coordinator of the Metabesity Group at the i3S – Institute for Research and Innovation in Health, University of Porto. She also serves as one of the coordinators of the Group of Fundamental and Translational Research (GIFT) of the Portuguese Society of Diabetology (SPD).
Her research focuses primarily on obesity, diabetes, metabolism, and cancer, with a publication record of more than 200 peer-reviewed papers and extensive participation in national and international research projects. She coordinates a doctoral programme and a master’s course in Metabolism, in addition to several postgraduate training initiatives. In addition, Raquel Soares also serves as Associate Editor for several international scientific journals.
