The global shipbuilding industry is at a critical moment facing dual pressures of environmental regulations and digital transformation. Driven by policies such as China’s “Carbon Peak, Carbon Neutrality” goals and the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) 2030/2050 emission reduction targets, the transition to green, intelligent, and standardized shipbuilding has become imperative. This paper presents a comprehensive case study of construction of a Modern Intelligent Shipyard along the Yangtze River aiming at facilitating the production of green vessels. The shipyard layout and technical routine, the configuration of digital systems, the key intelligent production lines such as digital cutting center, robotic welding lines, automated pipe fabrication lines, automated painting facilities, and smart warehouse will be presented in this article. It concludes that the intelligent shipyard model not only enhances competitiveness but also provides a replicable pathway for the global shipbuilding industry to achieve sustainable and green transformation.
