Systematic reviews and meta-analyses are very important tools in evidence-based medicine and scientific research. Systematic reviews aim to comprehensively identify, evaluate, and summarize all available evidence on a specific research question. This thorough and systematic approach helps ensure that a broad range of studies is considered, providing a more complete understanding of the topic. Meta-analysis on the other hand, goes a step further by quantitatively combining data from multiple studies. This increases the statistical power of the analysis, providing a more precise estimate of the effect of a particular treatment or the association between multiple variables than individual studies alone. Systematic reviews help optimize resource allocation by summarizing existing evidence, allowing researchers and policymakers to make informed decisions without duplicating efforts unnecessarily. Did you know that you need to register your systematic review before carrying out any analysis? How can you define your inclusion and exclusion criteria? How can you evaluate “risk of bias” while writing a systematic review? Can you carry out a meta-analysis without systematic review? What type of studies should be collected for meta-analysis? Organizers: Stefano Ministrini - University of Zurich, Switzerland. Deeksha Malhan - MSH Medical School Hamburg, Germany. Patricia Filipa Afonso Mendes - Centro Hospitalar e Universitário de Coimbra, Portugal. Aldo Bonaventura - Medical Center, Ospedale di Circolo e Fondazione Macchi, Varese, Italy.
