The sweetest thing: the role of glucose and anaerobic glycolysis in drug-induced mitochondrial toxicity
11:00 - 11:30Biography
I earned a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology from the University of Padua, a master’s degree in molecular medicine from the University of Trieste. I obtained my PhD degree in biochemistry and pharmacology from the University of Udine. As a postdoc, I worked for 4 years in the department of molecular pharmacology at the Albert Einstein Medical College of New York, and 4 years in the department of Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University Hospital Zurich. Currently, I am a Research Group Leader in the department of Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University Hospital Zurich and a lecturer in Experimental Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Zurich. Our laboratory of experimental pharmacology and toxicology aims to address two overlapping but distinct questions: (i) What are the molecular determinants that define drug tropism? (ii) What is the role of mitochondria in drug toxicity?
