Carlos Zaragoza Sánchez is a scientist specializing in cardiovascular physiology. He is a professor of Physiology and heads the Cardiovascular Research Unit at the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria. He is also affiliated with the Ramón y Cajal Institute for Health Research ((RYCIS), where he leads the Cardiovascular Diseases Group and serves on the Research Commission. His work includes coordinating the Valvular Disease Program within the Spanish Biomedical Research Network in Cardiovascular Diseases (CIBERCV). With over 100 scientific publications and three patents, he has led 12 national and international research projects focused on applied research in cardiovascular diseases.

Alberto Marra is currently Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at “Federico II” University of Naples and Attending Physician at Department of Internal Medicine and Clinical Complexity of the “Federico II” University Hospital. He is Vice-president/President Elect (2026-28) Regional Section (Campania), Italian Society of Internal Medicine (SIMI) and former Chairman of the Young Internists of Europe of the European Federation of Internal Medicine. His main focus of interests are Pulmonary Hypertension, Right Ventricular function, Heart Failure and Cardiac Rehabilitation. He is author of more of 180 papers with a cumulative IF of more than 600 points.

Dr. Vilahur is the Director of the Cardiovascular Diseases Area at the Sant Pau Research Institute, Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, Barcelona. Her previous positions include a postdoctoral fellowship at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York (2004-2006), a Juan de la Cierva contract (2006-2009), followed by a Ramón y Cajal contract (2010-2015), and accreditation as I3. Dr. Vilahur has authored 216 articles (PubMed) and 323 (Medline) in prestigious journals in the cardiovascular field (h-index=50; h-index google scholar=62), including original manuscripts, reviews, and position papers. She has also contributed to over 35 book chapters. She has been a researcher and co-researcher in more than 50 esearch projects (both national and European), funded by public or private entities. As a result of her research, she has received multiple awards and scientific grants, notably the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Award (2012) and the European Society of Cardiology’s Outstanding Achievement Award for her scientific career (2019). She previously served as President of the Thrombosis Working Group (2020-2022) of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and is the current President of the European Society for Clinical Research (ESCI: 2023-2027) and Treasurer of the Working Group of Atherosclerosis and Vascular Biology of the ESC. She has extensive experience in ischemic heart disease, from atherosclerosis and its cardiovascular risk factors to thrombosis and acute myocardial infarction, as well as in identifying new therapeutic targets/strategies to prevent and treat myocardial infarction and subsequent heart failure development. She holds 4 patents and has founded 3 spin-offs. Dr. Vilahur has contributed to numerous continuing education courses/master’s programs at the national and international levels and is part of the editorial board of prestigious journals in the cardiovascular area.
